My first sale

I sold a short story to ON SPEC magazine

To be fair, being Canadian and them needing to have 80% Canadian content certainly improved my odds. (Having read their submission guidelines again... no, they claim it only improves my chances of getting in the magazine sooner once the piece is accepted.)

To be honest, I keep waiting for someone to tell me I'm being punk'd.

And...uh...yeah... Still gotta do the paperwork and send the file, etc. As soon as I know what  issue it will be appearing, I'll tell you.

Thank you! You've sold short stories, correct? Does it become easier once you've gotten one published to sell others?

hmm....depends on the editors. I did find it easier and easier with shorts....partly because once an editor buys something of yours, they are much more likely to buy something else because they like your vioce etc....

Also....now when you submit elsewhere, you can put that credit on your query and other editors are more likely to look at your work before they will consider a writer who doesn't have credits.

So honestly I dunno for certian....but I think it gets easier!
